Valentine’s Day brings with it intense discussion among newspaper types, who take glee in being  indignant about anything one could get indignant about. I sit quietly during these discussions and plot pies for my  favorite invented holiday.

Behold, 2011’s offering for my chocoholic Valentine. Julia Child’s chocolate mousse in an Oreo crust, just like he asked. (If you make it, use only half of the coffee.)

See, there ARE Valentines for grumpy newspaper people. They come from Kate Spade, in the shape of handbags. Yes, that New York Journal is a clutch. (A gift from T, who was pretty excited to give it to his sometimes grumpy newspaper reporter girlfriend. It’s my new favorite possession.)

P.S. Today I am bringing pie to work, to suggest the grace of invented holidays, especially where cream and chocolate are involved.
