The Mouse Pumpkin, 2011

For my birthday last weekend, I asked for a pumpkin — a pumpkin that Ty and I would carve together. Last night, just as the sun was setting, we went to work. It’s our first jack o’ lantern, so I had no idea the man could hollow out a squash so quickly (something about mad arm muscles). He didn’t even balk when I suggested that we use his new drill to carve said pumpkin. And he let me do all the drilling.

The result: an awesome pumpkin that only took 20 minutes to carve — rubber mice courtesy my mother (who else!?).

And then we roasted pumpkin seeds, and I felt like a kid for an hour or two — which is really all you can ask of Halloween.
